The Alabama Crimson Tide could be without one of their top players when they host the Tennessee Vols in October.

ESPN's Chris Low reported on Thursday that Alabama redshirt sophomore linebacker Deontae Lawson will miss the Crimson Tide's game this weekend with an ankle injury.

Lawson, who is Alabama's second leading tackler, suffered the injury in the Crimson Tide's win against Ole Miss this past weekend.

According to Low, there's a chance that Lawson could miss "multiple games".

Alabama plays Tennessee on October 21. The Crimson Tide's bye week isn't until the week after their game against the Volunteers.

Lawson is reportedly dealing with a sprained ankle and those can be tricky. Vols fans certainly remember UT wide receiver Cedric Tillman's sprained ankle last season, which kept the Las Vegas native sidelined for over a month.

It'll be a tough game against Alabama even if Lawson doesn't play. But I'm sure Alabama would prefer to have the former four-star recruit on the field when the Vols visit Tuscaloosa in a few weeks.
