The Dallas Cowboys announced a slew of roster moves that were easy to anticipate earlier this week.
The team is signing center Brock Hoffman to their 53-man roster after his practice squad elevations ran out in Week 3. He'll remain Tyler Biadasz's backup moving forward after starting last Sunday versus the Arizona Cardinals.
As a result, the Cowboys' practice squad elevations look a little different this week as the team is calling up LB Malik Jefferson and TE Sean McKeon. With no center being called up, expect Biadasz to play this weekend despite being questionable.
Jefferson's elevation makes a whole lot of sense considering the Cowboys lost Devin Harper after risking him to waivers earlier this week. Harper might not have done a lot defensively speaking but he had the third-highest special teams snap count ahead of Week 4.
Jefferson will surely have his hands full with special teams work on Sunday. But I wouldn't be too surprised if he finds his way to the field on defense, too. The New England Patriots run a lot of 12 and 13 personnel and they'll force the Cowboys to match up against heavier personnel groupings.
As for McKeon's elevations, it's a bad omen for Peyton Hendershot, who appeared on the injury report earlier this week with an ankle injury. Hendershot could be inactive on Sunday with McKeon joining Jake Ferguson, Luke Schoonmaker, and (FB) Hunter Luepke on the field.
Meanwhile, things have gotten much more complicated for the Patriots as they ruled out CB Jonathan Jones and LG Cole Strange on Saturday. Strange's absence in particular could spell trouble for them versus the Cowboys' defensive line. Osa Odighizuwa could wreck this game from the interior while Micah Parsons tees off on a weak right tackle situation with Vederian Lowe manning the position for New England.
If Cowboys clear one specific hurdle, they can dominate the Patriots
Perfect bounce-back opportunity.
