In case you have missed, it I have started a series over the past two weeks predicting three things that will happen each week during the Dallas Cowboys matchup.
In Week 2 we were perfect as we went three-for-three. However, in Week 3 we had a bit of a setback going 1/3.
Let's see if we can bounce back strong as the Cowboys host the Bill Belichick-coached New England Patriots while the team looks for a bounce back of its own after a disappointing loss in Arizona.
The Cowboys defense will combine for 4 sacks
The Patriots' offensive line has been, well, sketchy might be the best term.
Their best-graded offensive lineman per PFF outside of the obvious left tackle Trent Brown is center David Andrews, and his grade is a mere 69.8.
Tackles, Calvin Anderson and Vederian Lowe, as well as interior offensive linemen in Cole Strange (ruled out), and Atonio Mafi (taking his spot at left guard) have struggled with none of them posting a grade above 50.
Mafi has allowed 2 sacks on the season, and Calvin Anderson has allowed 3 QB hits.
Micah Parsons might be licking his chops heading into this matchup. And with everyone knowing about Micah, that will free up the rest of the defensive line for one-on-one matchups. I expect a big day out of this group.
CeeDee Lamb scores his first touchdown of 2023
Last week we missed this prediction, which means CeeDee Lamb has yet to find the endzone in the 2023 season.
Surely that can't last for four straight weeks…right?
I haven't seen many fans clamoring at this stat, but surely they will notice if he goes four straight weeks without a touchdown. I think the Cowboys will enter today's matchup with a focus on getting Lamb touches when they enter the red zone, where they've struggled three weeks into the season.
The defense gets back on track
The Dallas Cowboys defense got off to a stellar start to the 2023 season. They had seven turnovers in two games and allowed 386 yards.
That is until they played Arizona.
The Cardinals must have found some way to exploit them, because they went for 416 yards of offense and had 0 turnovers.
Surely this left a sour taste in the Cowboys' mouths and they're coming back with vengeance. I'm predicting the Cowboys' defense holds the Patriots' offense to 10 points and less than 200 yards of total offense. It should be a long day for Mac Jones and company but it will all have to start by stopping the run as you can read in the article below.
If Cowboys clear one specific hurdle, they can dominate the Patriots
Perfect bounce-back opportunity.
