Aaron Rodgers is one step closer to getting back on the field.

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh announced on Wednesday that they have opened the quarterback's 21-day practice window.

This comes after Rodgers tore his Achilles 75 seconds into his first game with the Jets, just 79 days ago. And his recovery has been described to some as miraculous.

NfL Network's Mike Garafolo added some additional information to the report, explaining that this move could help "his rehab and injects positive vibes into the building," even if Rodgers doesn't return to the field this season.

The Jets opted to do this just a day after Rodgers told Pat McAfee that his chances of returning are based off two factors: is he healthy and can the Jets make a playoff run?

While the answer to the first question may be yes, it is VERY unlikely that the Jets will make the playoffs this season, currently sitting with a 4-7 record. And according to the New York Times, the Jets currently have a less than one percent chance of making the playoffs.

So, while his practice window has been opened, there is a chance he can go right back to injured reserve.

Rodgers injury was heartbreaking for the Jets, who have not had an easy go of things in the past. However bringing in a Super Bowl MVP quarterback made them serious contenders for the ultimate title.

Yet, they were forced to turn back to Zach Wilson as the starter. And after that didn't work out, they are now giving Tim Boyle a chance.

So while Rodgers will return to the practice field it seems unlikely that he will be back out for a game this season.

Sorry Jets fans.
