The Jacksonville Jaguars have a special group of players, and one guy on their team currently could end up being one of the best players ever. Josh Allen, the outside linebacker who has been with the team for several years now, is that dude.
Josh Allen is one of the best defensive players in the league, and after his big game against the Houston Texans, he moved into second all-time for sacks in the Jaguars franchise history with 38, behind Tony Brackens, who has 55.
Sunday was a big day for Allen, who seemed to stick around during some of the tougher times in Jaguars' history, and he was recognized with an award for his play against the Texans.
Allen found his name on the list when the NFL announced the weekly awards. Next to it said AFC Defensive Player of the Week, an award Allen has won three times.
Allen had 2.5 sacks and four hurries against the Texans as they went on to win 24-21 and claim sole possession of first place in the AFC South. Allen now has 12 sacks this year, which is fifth-most in the league.
The last time Allen won the award was in Week 18 of last season after a big game against the Tennessee Titans and before that, a big win over the Buffalo Bills in 2021.
Allen has become an elite defender, and it's great that he is getting so much recognition for it.
