The Dallas Cowboys have been waiting with bated breath to see if they will land star linebacker Shaq Leonard.

However, the latest report does not look promising.

According to CBS Sports' Josina Anderson, the Philadelphia Eagles have "some optimism" that Leonard will sign with Philadelphia.

She added that the Cowboys have not been given any information regarding Leonard's potential decision.

Leonard was not shy in expressing his frustration over the limited snaps he received with the Indianapolis Colts this season and because of that, the team opted to waive him on Nov. 21.

With that, it was expected that he would sign with another team looking to make a playoff run.

And the Cowboys and Eagles were at the top of the list.

Leonard has met with both teams, and reportedly had successful visits in both Dallas and Philadelphia.

However, this latest news makes it seem like he is leaning one way.

And it's a direction that Cowboys fans will not be happy about.

We'll just have to wait and see if he changes his mind.
