When the Jacksonville Jaguars visit the Cleveland Browns in Week 14, they may not have their most important player suited up.

Against the Bengals on Monday Night Football, Lawrence looked to have suffered a pretty serious lower leg injury when his teammate landed on his ankle and the ankle bent underneath him. Fortunately for the Jaguars, it is being called an ankle sprain with more testing to come.

More testing could work in favor or against Lawrence. At this time, it is still hard to see him playing on a short week on the road in Cleveland. Having played on Monday night, the Jaguars now have just a few days until they would have to leave for Cleveland.

If Lawrence has to miss the game in Week 14, it’ll be veteran backup C.J. Beathard behind center. Beathard has not started a game since 2020 when he was with the 49ers. The Jaguars backup looked solid in relief against the Bengals by going 9-for-10 passing with 63 yards.

Jacksonville’s offense would be less of a force without Lawrence and it would work in Cleveland’s favor. You always want your opponent to be healthy, but the Browns aren’t going to complain if Lawrence needs to miss a game.
