The Indianapolis Colts (5-5) wasted no time ruling out three players for their Week 12 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6).
Before the team's official injury report even dropped, head coach Shane Steichen announced that the team is ruling out CB Juju Brents, TE Drew Ogletree, and C Ryan Kelly.
Juju Brents:
This will be the fourth straight game Brents has missed since suffering a quad injury during the team's Week 7 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. At the time, the Colts elected not to place the rookie on IR, suggesting that they didn't believe he would miss four or more weeks. The team has played it safe with Brents, though, after a year where the Colts have already lost four rookies to season-ending injuries. The Colts will now continue with the starting boundary duo of Jaylon Jones and Darrell Baker Jr.
Drew Ogletree:
Ogletree is missing his 2nd straight game after not traveling with the team to Germany in Week 10. There was slight optimism that the team's bye week would be enough time for Ogletree to return this week, but he needs at least another week before he can return to the field. The Colts have deployed a TE by committee approach the entire season, which will be without Ogletree this week. The group will be led by Kylen Granson and will also feature Mo Alie-Cox and rookie Will Mallory.
Ryan Kelly:
Kelly left the Colts Week 10 matchup in Germany with his 2nd concussion of the season. After the bye week and showing solid progress and practice this week, it seemed like he was poised to play this week. But it seems that something prevented him from being cleared from the NFL's concussion protocol, and the Colts will be without their starting center for the third time this season. Backup Wesley French will now have the tall task of matching up with star Buccaneers DT Vita Vea.
