The Houston Texans are currently trying to figure out what went wrong against their division rival, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Was it the defense? Maybe so. You could probably blame the kicker as well, and outside of the sack, C.J. Stroud took on the screenplay in the fourth quarter.
The two guys you cannot blame, though, are the two best rookies on the offensive side of the ball. Quarterback C.J. Stroud and wide receiver Tank Dell have an undeniable chemistry that makes them pretty much an elite duo already.
When the two connect on a deep ball, which they seem to do at least once every game, you can hear the fireworks. Those two were huge, even in the loss. So much so that the two of them actually made NFL history.
Here is what the Texans' PR team tweeted out about Stroud and Dell in terms of adding their names to the history books.
QB CJ Stroud and WR Tank Dell are the sixth rookie quarterback receiving pairing in NFL history to connect for at least seven touchdowns and the first duo since Andrew Luck and T.Y. Hilton in 2012 to accomplish the feat.
One could say that Tank Dell's illegal shift penalty could be a reason the team lost, as it wiped away a big 50-yard play. However, if you replay the penalty, Dell was the only player in motion, so the penalty should not have been called.
The Texans truly have something special brewing, especially if they are in the same sentence as those other two guys.
