The Las Vegas Raiders' top coaching prospect for 2024 may already have one foot out of the door in terms of coming to Vegas next season.
Many fans and media want Jim Harbaugh, the former San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl losing head coach and now Michigan Wolverines' head coach, as the guy leading the Raiders in 2024. And it all makes sense. He has been successful at many stops in his career.
But, it seems that he will likely not be the head coach of the Raiders in 2024, even though a report once said he was a top prospect. The feelings may not even be mutual, anyway.
According to Richard Johnson of Sports Illustrated, Harbaugh is close to signing an extension with Michigan, which would have him there for another five years. So, he may have a foot out of the door already.
However, there is a hurdle, and this could be good for the Raiders.
Johnson also explained that the hurdle is getting it in writing that Harbaugh will not explore NFL jobs. That's the hurdle, which means he could already have one foot out of the door.
Now, we could easily get another update saying that Harbaugh has agreed to the deal, and that would mean Harbaugh is done as an NFL coaching prospect.
I'm sure more news will come, likely after the College Football Playoffs.
Raiders fans want Jim Harbaugh, but the feelings may not be mutual
The Raiders will likely have an opening for a head coach this offseason.
