The Tennessee Vols are battling former UT offensive coordinator Alex Golesh, now the head coach at USF, for a 2024 recruit.

2024 junior college defensive lineman Jamal Wallace revealed his top five schools on Thursday and he included Tennessee, along with Houston, Memphis, Utah State, and USF.

Wallace also announced that he plans to announce his commitment on December 20, which is the first day of the early signing period.

Wallace, 6-foot-4/269 lbs from Kansas City, MO, will take an official visit to USF this weekend before officially visiting Tennessee next weekend.

The Sienna standout told 247Sports in October that Tennessee views him as a "twitchy" player that could potentially play opposite James Pearce on the Vols' defensive line. Wallace, who also told 247Sports that he heard from Georgia and LSU earlier this fall (but didn't receive offers), is rated by On3 as a three-star recruit and the No. 5 JuCo edge rusher in the nation.
