Justin Madubuike left the Baltimore Ravens' Week 12 road matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers during the late stages of the fourth quarter.
Madubuike went down on a play in which Ravens outside linebacker Odafe Oweh tackled Chargers running back Austin Ekeler behind the line of scrimmage for a 1-yard loss. Madubuike was slow to get up after the play, but he did manage to make his way over to the sideline on his own power.
Madubuike was not issued any injury designation during the game, and he did not return to the contest. Multiple Ravens defensive linemen stepped up in Madubuike’s absence, including Broderick Washington Jr., who recorded a sack on Los Angeles’ next drive on offense.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said after the game that the fourth-year defensive lineman is "going to be in the concussion protocol."
Madubuike will have much time to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol before the Ravens' next game, as the current AFC North leaders have their bye week coming up in Week 13. They will return to action in the following week with a home matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
Madubuike has had quite a breakout campaign. He currently leads all Ravens players in multiple stats this year, including in sacks (10.0).
John Harbaugh speaks highly of a promising Ravens pass rusher
Plenty of potential.
