The latest NFL-wide news only helps the Las Vegas Raiders, or does it?

This week, the Raiders lost 3-0 to the Minnesota Vikings after a bye week, which is really just unacceptable, especially when you consider the Vikings played their backup quarterback, and then his backup. So, maybe it's time to hang up the hopes of winning in 2023.

Last week, there was still hope the Raiders could maybe go on a run and make the wildcard. After Week 14, those hopes are gone. So now what? Well, you get ready for the draft. You try to stay competitive, but not to the point where you are winning too many games so your draft position doesn't get hurt.

But the latest news doesn't help that either.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Chargers' star quarterback Justin Herbert is not expected to play on Thursday Night Football against the Raiders, as he is dealing with a fractured right index finger. So, this means that the Raiders' chances of winning, when they really should be trying to lose, are even higher.

Herbert is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and taking him out of the equation instantly makes the Chargers one of the worst offenses in the NFL, whereas they already were with him at quarterback.

Thursday Night Football could end up being a snooze-fest.
