It is of the utmost importance that the Indianapolis Colts pick up a win in Week 16 over the Atlanta Falcons.

But what other games are important to monitor during Week 16?

Games that impact the Colts:

  • Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Buffalo Bills @ Los Angeles Chargers
  • Cleveland Browns @ Houston Texans
  • Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Who the Colts are rooting for:

Bengals @ Steelers

The Colts are coming off a big Week 15 win over the Steelers, but their blowout loss to the Bengals in Week 14 still stings. With the Bengals currently sitting at 8-6 and above the Colts in the AFC playoff standings, they will be rooting for the Steelers to pick up the win here. The Steelers are one of the only tiebreakers the Colts will have in this extremely close wildcard race and would help the Colts move up the standings immediately.

Bills @ Chargers

This is a tall ask, but the Colts will be rooting for the Chargers to upset the Bills in Week 16. This Chargers team seems already checked out after their disaster 5-9 season and will be without multiple key starters such as Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen, and Joey Bosa. The Bills are another team with the same record. as the Colts at 8-6. So a Bills loss could give the Colts breathing room down the stretch.

Browns @ Texans

This game involves two teams that, in their own ways, help the Colts no matter the result. The preferred route, though, would be for the Texans to lose, which would have the Colts a full game ahead of the Texans, who have already beaten this season and are slated to play Week 18 at home. A Browns loss would give the Colts a chance to pass them, but because the Browns have the tiebreaker, it isn't quite as helpful as a Texans loss.

Jaguars @ Buccaneers

The Colts are currently in a three-way tie at the top of the AFC South, as all three of the Jaguars, Texans, and Colts are 8-6 on the season. Because the Jaguars swept the Colts, they will always have the edge over the Colts if the two teams finish with the same record. A Colts win in Week 16 and a Jaguars loss would catapult the Colts into first place in the AFC South and put them in the driver's seat to win the division for the first time since 2014.
