The Los Angeles Chargers' season is all but over. Accordingly, they will be auditioning plenty of young players to see what their depth looks like in the coming weeks. Their latest move signals exactly that.
According to Ian Rapoport, the Chargers are waiving long-time DL Sebastian Joseph-Day.
Joseph-Day joined the Chargers in 2022 after three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. He's been a key contributor for the Chargers since he joined their defense. He's started in every game he's played for them.
Accordingly, this will give a new opportunity to a defensive lineman on the roster for LA. Expect Morgan Fox or Scott Matlock to get a bigger look on defense.
With the Chargers, Joseph-Day totaled 87 tackles, five sacks, and an interception. He also had twelve tackles for loss. You could argue that he's been their most consistent defensive lineman outside of Khalil Mack this season.
For Joseph-Day, he now gets an opportunity to play for a playoff team – most likely.
That's a nice Christmas present for a player that has proven he can produce at the NFL level. A contender will be glad to grab him if he makes it to them on waivers.
