The Tennessee Vols just locked down four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger as part of their 2024 signing class and they're in hot pursuit of 2025 five-star quarterback George MacIntyre (who is expected to announce his commitment next month).
And they're also already in the mix for an elite 2026 quarterback that's rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee.
Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis revealed his top schools on Saturday and he included Tennessee, along with Ohio State, Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida State, and Georgia.
Curtis, 6-foot-3/210 lbs from Nashville, TN, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 2 quarterback in the nation and the No. 20 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
"I like what they are building in Tennessee," said Curtis to On3 about the Volunteers. "Also the hometown team so that’s a big plus. Love to get back up there again here soon!"
Curtis took an unofficial visit to Tennessee for the Vols' win against the South Carolina Gamecocks this past season.
