The Indianapolis Colts announced multiple roster moves following the suspension of two of their own players

The moves included a few familiar faces as well as some first-time Colts.

Roster Moves:

  • RB Tyler Goodson signed to the active roster
  • DE Zach McCloud signed to the practice squad
  • WR Jaydon Mickens signed to the practice squad
  • WR Juwann Winfree signed to the practice squad
  • G Lewis Kidd released from the practice squad

The name that stands out to me is Jaydon Mickens. Mickens has been in the NFL since 2016, when he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent. He wouldn't make his regular-season debut till 2017 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he spent his first three years.

The next two and a half were with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his final full season with the Buccaneers being their Super Bowl win in 2021. Mickens returned three kickoffs in the Super Bowl, and the Buccaneers went on to win 31-9 over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mickens now joins the Colts practice squad following the suspension of Isaiah McKenzie. With the Colts looking for a returner, Mickens now seems like a possible practice squad elevation candidate, especially if the Colts would rather not use their rookie WR Josh Downs in that role along with his snaps on offense.
