A former Tennessee Vols assistant coach is reportedly leaving Boulder after just one season on Deion Sanders' staff at Colorado.

Former Tennessee safeties coach/special teams coordinator Charles Kelly spent the 2023 season on Sanders' staff as Colorado's defensive coordinator/safeties coach.

According to 247Sports' Matt Zenitz, Kelly is leaving Colorado for an unspecified job on the defensive staff at Auburn.

Kelly was on Jeremy Pruitt's inaugural coaching staff at Tennessee in 2018 (the two previously worked together at Florida State), but he left to join Nick Saban's staff at Alabama after just one season.

The former Tennessee assistant coach played college football at Auburn from 1986-1989. This will be his first time serving as an on-field assistant coach at his alma mater.
