In week 12, after losing three of four games to fall to 6-6, the Buffalo Bills didn't look like a major threat to win the AFC East.
But fast forward to Week 18 and the Bills have a chance to end the regular season by celebrating their fourth straight AFC East division title.
All they have to do is go on the road and beat the Miami Dolphins.
And that task will be a little easier than expected with the news that broke on Sunday evening.
The Dolphins fear that pass rusher Bradley Chubb tore his ACL in Miami's blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Chubb was inexplicably still in the game with Miami down by 30 points.
You hate to see any player suffer a season-ending injury in any situation. But it's even worse when it happens during a game where the outcome has already been determined.
For the Bills, the absence of Chubb is one less elite pass rusher that they'll have to worry about next week in Miami. Chubb has shown this season that's capable of taking over a game (like when he had three sacks against the New York Jets a couple of weeks ago). And while it's not like not having Chubb on the field means a loss is inevitable for the Dolphins, it's still a development that improves the Bills' odds of winning the AFC East next weekend.
