One Tennessee Vols starter that could still choose to enter NCAA transfer portal

The NCAA transfer portal closed on January 2, but Tennessee Vols players have until January 6 to enter the portal because the Citrus Bowl was played on New Year's Day (which extended the window a few days for them).
And there's one Vols starter, in particular, worth keeping an eye on over the next couple of days.
Thanks to NCAA transfer rules (which now allow a second transfer) , Vols starting offensive tackle Gerald Mincey could choose to enter the portal again if he chooses.
Mincey previously transferred to Tennessee from Florida.
"Gerald Mincey, that's one that could potentially look around (because of the new NCAA rule)," said VolQuest's Austin Price during an appearance on 104.5 The Zone's "Ramon, Kayla, and Will" this week.
Price also mentioned previous transfer additions Dont'e Thornton and Andrej Karic as some names that could potentially look around thanks to the new NCAA rule.
In Mincey's scenario, he could choose to use another transfer as leverage for a new NIL deal. And if the Vols don't meet his number in that scenario, he'd be free to transfer and find a new home.
Tennessee would essentially be in a situation where they have to decide if they want to pay Mincey to be a starter in 2024 or if they want to replace him via the transfer portal with a new addition.
You can see why it's a tough time for college coaches when it comes to roster management.
It's also possible that Mincey doesn't use the new transfer rule as leverage at all. Remember, Price said he's a player that could "potentially" look around, not that he will for sure.
We should know the answer, however, by Saturday when the portal window for Tennessee players closes .
