The Ole Miss Rebels appeared to make a very puzzling decision this week.
On Thursday, 247Sports' Matt Zenitz reported that Ole Miss star running back Quinshon Judkins informed the Rebels' coaching staff that he plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Judkins subsequently announced via a social media post that he's entering the portal.
Judkins, who just completed his sophomore season, had an incredibly productive first two collegiate seasons in Oxford.
Over the last two years at Ole Miss, Judkins has rushed for 2,725 yards and 31 touchdowns along with 281 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.
Ole Miss has been handing out NIL deals left and right to transfer players, but it appears that they were unwilling to give Judkins one of those deals (or add cash to his existing deal).
Walker Jones, who is associated with 3 Step Sports and The Grove Collective, liked a tweet on Thursday that suggested it's unwise to overpay for a running back.

This looks like a running back who saw a bunch of transfer players getting paid and decided he deserved a little more cash, too. And when the answer wasn't to his liking, he hit the portal.
You can't blame him if that's the case — especially the way Ole Miss is spending on transfer players who haven't played a down of football yet for the Rebels.
It's quite a choice by Ole Miss. Moving on from one of the top players in college football could prove to be a disastrous decision by Lane Kiffin and company.
