The injury pattern continued for the Cleveland Browns in Week 16 and due to that they had work to do on Christmas Day.

Cleveland has signed K Riley Patterson to the practice squad, according to the team. The roster move comes about amidst the hamstring injury of K Dustin Hopkins.

In just a few days, the Browns will take on the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. With the short week, the Browns had to bring in a backup option for Hopkins.

Hopkins is very likely to be heading for his first Pro Bowl and has been a weapon for the Browns this season. Unfortunately, he was injured chasing down Dameon Pierce on a play in which Pierce returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Patterson is in his third NFL season out of Memphis and has played in 37 career games after being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings.

In 2021, Patterson was with the Lions and his second stint came with the team this year. This season in 13 games, Patterson has made 15-of-17 file goals and 35 of 37 extra point kicks. In his career, Patterson has made 58-of-66 kicks.

Cleveland very well could call up Patterson on game day to kick for them on Thursday, that will be something to monitor.
