A legend in the then St. Louis and now Los Angeles Rams is one step closer to the ultimate prize.

Wide receiver Torry Holt, a member of the "Greatest Show on Turf" Rams team, was named one of the 15-modern-era player finalists for the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.

It is a crowning achievement for Holt, who made the Pro Bowl seven times during his 10 seasons with the franchise.

How good was Torry Holt?

The answer is really good.

Holt benefitted from playing in a fast-paced, high-powered offense when other teams in the league weren't doing nearly as much.

During his time with the Rams, Holt caught 869 passes. He racked up 2,660 yards and 74 touchdowns.

That is merely the start.

In 2000 and 2003, Holt led the league in receiving yards. Then in 2003, he had an All-Pro season, claiming 117 catches for 1,696 yards.

Holt is one of three wide receivers to make the finalist list.

Those receivers are Andre Johnson and Reggie Wayne. The rest of the list of finalists includes:

  • Cornerback Eric Allen
  • Defensive end Jared Allen
  • Offensive tackle Willie Anderson
  • Offensive guard Jahri Evans
  • Defensive end Dwight Freeney
  • Tight end Antonio Gates
  • Safety Rodney Harrison
  • Kick returner Devin Hester
  • Defensive end Julius Peppers
  • Running back Fred Taylor
  • Linebacker Patrick Willis
  • Safety Darren Woodson.

Five modern players will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. The voting will take place in January and the names will be announced during Super Bowl week.
