The New York Giants have added a veteran player to their practice squad heading into Week 8.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the Giants signed wide receiver and special teamer Gunner Olszewski to the practice squad.
Olszewski was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, but he didn't have to wait long to find a new home.
Olszewski began his career with the New England Patriots, joining the team as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He signed a three year deal, and despite being told he would be waived on cutdown day, the Patriots opted to keep him on the roster.
In his rookie season, he had two receptions for 24 receiving yards along with 20 punt returns for 179 yards.
He remained with the Patriots until his contract ended following the 2021 season and went on two sign a two-year deal with the Steelers.
Across his five seasons in the league, Olszewski has 15 total receptions for 180 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown along with 14 carries for 71 rushing yards across 55 games.
On special teams, he has had a total of 41 kick returns for 904 yards along with 75 punt returns for 897 yards and one touchdown.
