Update 2: The charge for Ross now reads criminal property damage ">$1000 <25000" or greater than $1000 and less than $25,000. It is considered a level 9 felony charge.

Update: Ross is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday afternoon.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Justyn Ross was arrested and booked on felony domestic violence charges on Monday, Oct. 23.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Department, Ross was arrested at 2:54 p.m. CT and booked at 4:27 p.m. CT on criminal property damage charges in excess of $25,000, which is a level 7 felony charge in the state of Kansas. The booking notes list DV or Domestic Violence.

Keep in mind that these are preliminary charges. More charges can be added or dropped while a prosecutor reviews this case.

Ross, 23, is in his second year with the Chiefs after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson following the 2022 NFL draft. This is his first season on the 53-man roster in Kansas City.

As always with arrests, Ross will be subject to the NFL's personal conduct policy. Typically, the NFL waits for any criminal proceedings to take place before taking action, such as issuing a suspension. Ross is unlikely to be suspended this season, but the team could take action.

This situation is not dissimilar from the one that Chiefs LB Willie Gay Jr. found himself in a season ago, but he was charged with misdemeanor destruction of property. He was ultimately suspended for four games for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

The team has yet to issue a statement on Ross' arrest. We'll keep you updated on this story as it develops.
