The Tennessee Vols' culture under Josh Heupel is a strong as ever and that was extremely evident on Tuesday after hearing redshirt junior defensive lineman Bryson Eason speak to reporters.

Eason was asked how it felt for the defense to pick up the offense last weekend in the Vols' 20-13 win against the Texas A&M Aggies.

The Memphis native made it clear that Tennessee's defense has the offense's back "no matter what".

"I want to give a message to let the other guys on the other side of the ball know that we always got their back, no matter what," said Eason.

"And how's it feel? Man, it feels great," added Eason. "When you gotta go out there and pull your pants up, hold your own and just go out there and play ball. And defend your end zone. It's a great feeling for us on defense. And personally, I love that type of ball. It's fun to me. We gotta go out there and handle business and stand on business…so it's real fun to me. I enjoy it a lot."

That's gotta leave you with a smile if you're a Tennessee fan. Eason embodies that type of defensive culture that Heupel and his staff want on Rocky Top — eager to wreak havoc while having fun doing it.

There's no doubt that Eason loves playing defense. And when things aren't going well for the offense, it seems like it fires up Eason and the rest of the Vols' defense to take things to another level.

Tennessee is 5-1 at the midpoint of the season with several huge games down the stretch. I know it seems like things haven't gone to plan for the Vols so far this season — specifically on the offensive side of the ball — but all of Tennessee's goals are still very attainable. And that should be exciting considering this team hasn't even come close to peaking yet.
