The writing was on the wall when it came to the relationship between the Pittsburgh Steelers and WR/returner Gunner Olszewski.
And now, Pittsburgh is preparing to officially put pen to paper:
Gunner's Gone:
If you remember our offseason roster projection series, I thought it was a surprise that Gunner was even kept on the 53-man roster. He struggled to resemble any sort of his former self that earned him All-Pro honors during his time in New England in 2022.
Pair that with a healthy Calvin Austin and Anthony McFarland and it was confusing to see Pittsburgh keep Gunner around, since he wasn't even starting at either return position in the preseason.
But then came the injury that landed McFarland on the IR, inserting Gunner into the starting lineup.
Unfortunately, he would continue to struggle, adding insult to injury vs. the Browns.
And with McFarland back at practice this week, it makes sense to see this move happen now. Hopefully, Gunner can find his footing both literally and figuratively, elsewhere in the league.
