The Philadelphia Eagles' general manager Howie Roseman is not done working his magic ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.
The Birds already traded for All-Pro safety Kevin Byard on Monday, which gave their secondary a major boost.
However, if another player that Roseman has had his eyes on becomes available before next Tuesday, then you can expect the Eagles to make another move.
Longtime ex-NFL general manager Thomas Dimitroff joined Kay Adams' 'Up and Adams' show not too long after speaking with Roseman and gave some insight into how these trade deadlines work, specifically for Howie.
"There's so much going on," Dimitroff said. It's what they, Howie, specifically, it's his obligation to make sure he does what's best for the team, of course, in always keeping his eyes out there for potential guys who are going to improve their team. They were looking, obviously, they go after a safety recently, and they were thinking about how they were going to update and upgrade that defense. And it came their way. He jumped on it like he does. And you and I both know this…that he really believes that this is the kind of move that's going to really help make things right as they move forward."
Dimitroff pointed out that the Eagles' young and banged-up secondary got beat deep by Tyreek Hill in their Week 7 win against the Miami Dolphins.
How did Howie respond to this? By finding a talented veteran safety.
The Eagles are 6-1 heading into their Week 8 matchup against the Washington Commanders. And while they have been able to win all but one of their games so far this season, they haven't looked too good doing it. This means that there are still some holes to fill on offense and defense.
Howie could help fix this with another trade.
"Don't think they're done," Dimitroff said. "He didn't allude to anything like that. But he did say again, that this is something they keep their eye on. And that's his job.
"I think how he's one of the best traders out there in this sport."
