Midway through the first quarter, with the Carolina Panthers trailing in a Week 5 matchup with the Detroit Lions, Carolina took another blow.

Panthers' fourth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, offensive lineman Chandler Zavala, was injured during a run play involving Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard on first-and-10 with four minutes left in the quarter.

His injury prompted the cart to come out onto the field and both teams to clear their sideline to check on him.

Here is a look at the scene on the field:

Zavala gave a thumbs up while carted off the field, which is a welcomed sign after the scary injury.

Zavala is being taken to a local area hospital with a neck injury. At the hospital, he will continue to be evaluated.
