John Harbaugh has stressed the importance of ball security all season long and yet, turnovers are one reason why the Baltimore Ravens no longer sit in first place in the AFC North.
The Ravens turned the ball over a total of three times in their Week 5 road loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Two of Baltimore’s turnovers on the day came off the hands of Lamar Jackson. The two-time Pro Bowler threw a costly interception in the fourth quarter and then fumbled the football on Baltimore’s next drive on offense.
The Ravens have logged eight giveaways this season with six fumbles lost and two interceptions. They turned the ball over a total of 21 times in the 2022 campaign with 13 interceptions and eight fumbles lost.
Harbaugh is hoping to see the Ravens offense flip the script on its recent turnover woes in the coming weeks.
"Well, we emphasize it in practice every day, and we'll just keep working to do that," Harbaugh said after the game. "There's a lot of things that go into that. Obviously, you have a great pass rush out there, they're bringing heat in those situations, and [we're] trying to make plays and do the things we have to do. So, it's definitely something we'll be chasing going forward.
“It's not something that we want to do."
Baltimore is now looking ahead to a Week 6 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
