After Week 1, there were many who were writing off the Buffalo Bills. Specifically, their superstar QB Josh Allen. Allen, admittedly, had one of his worst games as a professional and many believed the sky was falling for the team.
Fast forward to today, Allen is on fire and the Bills offense is firing on all cylinders. The team is fresh off a dominant victory over what was the best offense in the NFL in a game where Allen had more touchdowns than incompletions.
In a recent NFL development, those critics are forced to eat their own words as Allen has launched himself into the MVP race. Specifically, Allen is now the odds-on favorite to win the award.
Outside of Allen, Tua Tagovailoa, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, and Brock Burdy have all made the list of betting favorites to win the prestigious award. Not too shabby for a QB on the decline.
Allen's numbers have been inhuman after that Week 1 debacle. Even Dan Orlovsky had to give Allen his flowers claiming he was the "best player in the league" since that awful performance against the Jets. The superstar QB is now tied for the most combined TDs among all QBs with a sky-high completion percentage to boot.
What's more, Allen is 12th in attempts, 4th in completions, 1st in completion percentage, sixth in yards, and 3rd in QBR. For a player who was written off after just Week 1, I hope that Allen and the team kept the receipts.
He's a superstar in the league and deserves all the praise in the world. One bad game won't define his career and he'll undoubtedly have more bad games. It doesn't matter, Allen has proven throughout his entire career (high school and college included) that he is the man for the job and he will continue to defy the odds.
