As the Carolina Panthers continue a search for a true playmaking wide receiver, a name that has popped up recently is Jerry Jeudy of the Denver Broncos.

Jeudy has long been the talk of trades in Denver. Through the first four weeks of the season, he has collected 11 receptions for 11 receptions for 158 yards. The Broncos selected Jeudy in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He was thought to be a star playmaker, but he has yet to put together a 1,000-yard receiving season. A change of scenery could be the help needed.

With the Panthers doubling down on Bryce Young, believing that if they can get him a legitimate playmaking wide receiver the offense might fare better, a few Broncos insiders believe draft capital is the key to the Panthers landing Jeudy.

“Carolina, I mean, obviously, Ejiro Evero knows Jerry Jeudy, knows these receivers,” Benjamin Allbright of KOA Colorado said Wednesday on Let’s Ride with Chris Harris Jr. and Patrick Chiotti.“He’s a DC down there in Carolina, and I do believe that Carolina is looking for a playmaker receiver. ‘Cause [Adam] Thielen’s shown up and been a possession guy, but they really need that other playmaker over there and I think Jerry would do a good job at that. I think Jerry’s shown that he can play all three—he can play out of the slot, he can play the X, he can play the Z. And I think in that system with Frank Reich, he’d be a good fit.

“So, we’ll see. I think the Broncos probably askin’ like a two and a four, they wind up takin’ a three, ya know, kind of thing. But we’ll see. We’ll see if that gets done. But there are teams sniffin’ around and Carolina is sniffin’ around on Jerry Jeudy.”

The Panthers started tipping their hand at wanting to make a move for a receiver last weekend. It was first reported by Ian Rapoport and substantiated in the days following.

Recently, Frank Reich was asked about the Panthers' search for a wide receiver. He said that he isn't worried about the possible trade. Instead, he is focused on the guys he has in the locker room.

“This is the same answer from me all the time, every year I’ve ever been in this position—once we get in season, I just want the guys we got,” Reich said. “I love the guys we got. We got the guys we need to win. That’s why, to me, it makes sense to have the division of the GM and the head coach.

“Scott [Fitterer] is always gonna be working through his job to initiate . . . he’s certainly gonna involve me in those decisions if something comes up. But those aren’t things I’m going to him initiating on. I’m not initiating those discussions with him. He’s doing what he’s doing, looking to do his job. I’m coachin’ the guys we got and I’m happy about the guys we got."

The Panthers are sniffing around for a receiver, and Jeudy could be the team's pending answer.
