New England Patriots rookie quarterback Joe Milton trucked a Philadelphia Eagles defender on Thursday night during a preseason matchup.
The former Tennessee Vols standout attempted to pick up a first down with his legs in the fourth quarter against the Eagles. Milton came up short of the line to gain, but not before he bulldozed a Philly defender (and then Milton stood over the Eagles player and talked a little trash).
Milton was asked about the play after the game and he had a perfect reaction (while also sharing some advice he received from veteran players).
"Me getting hit or me laying the hit? I'm just playing," said a laughing Milton. "You know, just not in preseason. You just gotta take care of your body. Some of the things I got from the vets, is if you want to play a long time, learn how to slide."
Oddly enough, former Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker, Milton's teammate at Tennessee in 2021 and 2022, received similar advice this week after laying a big hit on a New York Giants defender last week.
Hooker, who went into the concussion protocol after that hit, told reporters this week that his mom told him after the game that he's "gotta slide".
Milton and Hooker have both looked good at times during preseason action.
