Los Angeles is adding some potential at the position with their latest move.

Chargers sign linebacker Shaquille Quarterman

The Philadelphia Eagles released the young linebacker this past Sunday when they signed safety Caden Sterns.

Quarterman had his most productive season of his pro career so far in 2021. He spent the first four years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, playing in 63 games and starting none. He's been a depth piece, and that will be his role with LA.

The Jags moved on from Quarterman earlier in the offseason after an NFL Draft where they added linebacker talent. Their LB room is pretty full, so the move was not a massive surprise.

That being said, his release from Philly came just days after the team inked him to a one-year deal.

The roster shuffle around the NFL during the preseason can be quite the beast. Quarterman is the latest victim of that, but he did, at least, catch on with Jim Harbaugh's Chargers.

Quarterman joins Nick Niemann, Daiyan Henley, and Troy Dye as linebacker depth vying for more playing time with the Chargers.

We will see if he can carve out a role and secure a roster spot over the next couple of weeks before the regular season kicks off for Los Angeles.
