On3 ranked the top 10 players in the SEC on Monday and it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Tennessee Vols junior edge rusher James Pearce made their list.

And not only did he make the list, Pearce is actually at No. 1, coming in just above LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell and Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden.

From On3: Pearce is a menace off the edge, and might have the quickest get-off of any pass rusher in the SEC. He tied for the league lead in sacks with 10.0 and had 53 pressures in his 460 snaps. He’s a future Top 10 pick with game-wrecker potential. Pearce could be the key to Tennessee’s hopes of making a run to the CFP.

It's been a long time since Tennessee's had a defensive talent like Pearce on the roster. You have to go back to the days of Jerod Mayo or Eric Berry to find a Tennessee player that could impact a game like Pearce (Derek Barnett from 2014 to 2016 is an honorable mention as well).

Pearce is already receiving hype as the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. His presence along an already elite Vols defensive line could help that unit have one of its best seasons in Tennessee program history.
