Due to the nature of the meniscus injury, the Vikings won't know the extent of the injury until McCarthy is in surgery. It's likely either a 4-6 week recovery or at least 3-4 months depending on the nature of it. When Adrian Peterson and Irv Smith Jr. had their injuries, they had the full repair and missed the season. Peterson attempted to come back, but it was short-lived.
As you can imagine, everyone is bummed by the news. He was developing at a high level and looked to potentially be the starter at some point this year. He took to Twitter/X to speak on the injury and kept a positive attitude.
McCarthy clearly has the right mindset to overcome this piece of adversity. We will know more once McCarthy has surgery how long he will be out, but he will come back and continue that development.
