Former Tennessee Vols running back Jaylen Wright had a solid NFL preseason debut for the Miami Dolphins on Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons.

Wright, a fourth round selection by the Dolphins in the 2024 NFL Draft, rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

The former Vol scored his first NFL preseason touchdown in the second quarter on a six yard run. After scoring, Wright, out of excitement, launched the football into the stands.

After the game, Wright told reporters that he regretted throwing the ball into the stands (the ball wasn't able to be located).

"It was excitement, man," said Wright when asked about throwing the ball into the stands. "It's something I always wanted to do. I just threw it. I regret it now."

Wright added he's keeping the football if/when he scores his first regular season touchdown.

Based on the way Wright carried the ball on Friday night, I'm guessing he'll have plenty of scoring opportunities as a rookie this fall.

And it sounds like he won't be launching his next touchdown into the crowd.
