A former Tennessee Vols/Florida Gators punter went viral on Friday for trash talking an opponent after a muffed punt.

Yeah, you read that right. A punter was talking trash during an NFL game.

Houston Texans punter Tommy Townsend, who signed with the franchise earlier this offseason after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, yelled "catch the ball b—" at Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Quez Watkins after Watkins muffed a punt during the second quarter.

You don't see many punters (if any) chirping at opponents on the field, but Townsend spent four seasons in Kansas City, so I'm sure he's well versed in the art of trash talking.

Townsend initially signed with Tennessee in 2015. After one redshirt season with the Vols, Townsend transferred to Florida. He left Tennessee after walk-on Trevor Daniel emerged as the Vols' starting punter in 2015.

The former Vol/Gator signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent after going unselected in the 2020 NFL Draft.
