One of the three Tennessee Vols players that made the trip to Dallas for SEC Media Days on Tuesday was almost left behind.
Vols redshirt senior linebacker Keenan Pili, who transferred to Tennessee from BYU ahead of the 2023 season, told WATE's Reece Van Haaften that he almost missed the departure time for Dallas because he forgot his pants at home.
"I forgot my pants," said Pili. "It was an early morning and I was driving and I was like 'I forgot to my pants on the thing'. So I ran back home real fast, didn't speak though."
"They kept saying wheels up at 6, I was like 'I gotta get back'," added Pili.
That would've been an interesting situation that I'm not sure has happened before.
SEC Media Days runs on a strict schedule so I'm not sure how Pili's absence would've been handled. Does the Tennessee plane leave without him? Do the Vols get someone else to fill in? Or would Josh Heupel and the other players (Cooper Mays and Omari Thomas) skip SEC Media Days in solidarity?
Fortunately for Pili, we'll never know the answers to those questions. Pili made it on time and we were none the wiser (until he pointed it out).
