On the Fourth of July, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was spotted walking around Mexico with a book on his right foot.
The picture was reposted by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who reported that Prescott had been dealing with a "very minor" foot sprain that should not affect his preparation for 2024.
Naturally, the image sparked some concern from fans, but Prescott cleared things up two days later, posting a picture of himself without the boot.
"Just some Boot Boys in Mexico," Prescott wrote in a caption on the photo that was originally shared by his girlfriend, Sarah Jane Ramos.
Prescott is Having His Best Offseason Yet
The sprain did not seem to be an issue during Cowboys' spring training.
Prescott was present during both Cowboys' voluntary OTAs and mandatory minicamp this spring and looked better than he ever has, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.
"I think Dak's having his best offseason program that we've had and he's had really good offseason programs the whole time," McCarthy said during minicamp last month. "I think this atmosphere that we practice in, the receivers and the quarterback, have really hit the mark. I'm really impressed with the quality of work. .. I think the offensive perimeter and quarterbacks have really excelled through this offseason program. I think they have taken a step."
Prescott enters the final year of his contract with Dallas this season. He is coming off his best season to date after leading the Cowboys to a third straight playoff appearance while posting career highs in completions (410), completion percentage (69.5) and QB rating (105.9). For his outstanding efforts, he finished second in MVP voting, behind winner Lamar Jackson.
The Cowboys and Prescott are expected to agree on a new deal before NFL training camp kicks off on July 21.
