Cleveland Browns have some good news to share on Tuesday afternoon with one of their top players.

The team has agreed to a contract restructure with wide receiver Amari Cooper that ends the issue that kept him from competing at mandatory minicamp. With the restructuring, the Browns have guaranteed the $20 million that is due to Cooper and added an extra $5 million that can be reached in incentives. News of the restructure was first reported by Jordan Schultz.

On the day that veterans are required to report to training camp, the Browns have Cooper in the building, per multiple reports.

At age 30 and with her the current market is for wide receivers,  it is not a surprise that Cooper wanted more money guaranteed to hit his bank account. You can’t blame a player for looking to maximize their value in what is not a long shelf life for NFL wide receivers.

With the contract restructured, Cooper is still due to be a free agent in March and gets a possible bump in pay during the meantime. The incentives will likely tie around touchdowns and yards for Cooper to earn the extra cash. Last season, Cooper totaled a career-high 1,250 receiving yards to go along with five touchdowns. In 2022 with the Browns, Cooper led the way with 1,160 yards and nine touchdowns.

Cleveland had to have Cooper around for 2024, as it would have been a disservice to Deshaun Watson to not have his too wideout out there. A deal that works for both sides was able to be agreed to and that is all you can ask for in this business.
