The Tennessee Vols aren't considered to be among the top tier of contenders for an elite 2025 five-star wide receiver.
On Thursday, On3 ranked the contenders for several five-star recruits. One of those five-star recruits was five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench, the No. 4 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class (247Sports composite).
On3 listed Miami, LSU, and Texas as the "tier one contenders" for Ffrench. Tennessee was the lone team listed as a "tier two contender" for the talented wide receiver.
From On3: Texas may have the slight edge for the Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin star Jaime Ffrench but LSU and Miami are right there for the Sunshine State standout who is expected to return to all three campuses in July ahead of his August decision date.
Ffrench, 6-foot-1/185 lbs from Jacksonville, FL, took an official visit to Tennessee in June. He also took a couple of unofficial visits to Rocky Top earlier this spring, so he's quite familiar with Knoxville and the Vols' coaching staff.
While it would be a surprise if Ffrench chose the Vols on August 30 when he announces his commitment, it can't be completely ruled out. Ffrench's recruitment has been all over the place with various programs seemingly emerging as a leader in this battle at different times over the last several months.
Perhaps the Vols can make a late surge and pull off a stunner. They're certainly still hanging around in this battle.
