NFL Fans might be flocking to Buffalo for a weekend in a few years.
The Buffalo News' Ryan O'Halloran reports that the Buffalo Bills are planning to put in a bid to host the 2028 NFL Draft. He added in his report that it is expected that teams will get an “expression of interest memorandum” from the league this summer.
So if Bills Mafia want a chance to show what they are all about, they better start getting ready in case Buffalo wins the bid.
"We've seen the success and growth of the draft in other markets," Bills CEO Pete Guelli told the Buffalo News. "[The NFL Draft] is the kind of [opportunity] we're going to pursue as an organization, and we think the city of Buffalo would be absolutely perfect for this type of event. Our plan would be to express interest, and it's competitive — there are no guarantees it will work out, but we want to go down that road."
Detroit hosted the 2024 NFL Draft and shattered the attendance record, with over 775,000 fans attending throughout the weekend. Green Bay is set to host the 2025 draft, followed by Pittsburgh in 2026.
While space could be an issue in Buffalo, the option for the city is to use the stadium if they host in 2028. That is what Green Bay plans to do next year.
And it will give them the opportunity to show off the new Highmark Stadium, which is currently under construction.
So let's see what happens.
