After a team workout on Monday, the Carolina Panthers signed two players on the defensive side of the ball.
Outside linebacker Cam Gill and defensive lineman TJ Smith are both members of the team now, bringing the roster to 89, according to Panthers.com.
Starting with Smith, he last played for the Minnesota Vikings for the previous three seasons. Before that, he had a 2020 stint on the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad.
Smith, 27, has played in five games in his career, registering 11 total tackles.
The second signing was Gill, 26, who has played in 40 games over his three-year career. He has registered 29 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
Gill joins a linebacking group that boasts names like Jadeveon Clowney, Shaq Thompson, and Josey Jewell, among others.
Defensive help is needed for the Panthers. However, time will tell if Gill and Smith make the final iteration of the 2024 roster.
