This week has been an eventful one for Texas Longhorns football recruiting and they didn't even host a big event on campus. However, one of the premier events in all of college football recruiting did take place in Nashville, TN this week. On3's Elite Series event hosted more than three dozen of the nation's top recruits all in one place to talk through NIL, hear from a panel of superstar speakers as major recruiting intel kept dropping all week long.
When the dust finally settled from all of the potential news, commitments, and leans towards certain schools one story emerged more intriguing than perhaps anything else. There's a very real shot that the Texas Longhorns bring in the highest rated trio of wide receiver recruits in the history of college football next spring.
Dakorien Moore, Kaliq Lockett, and Jaime Ffrench are all reportedly very likely to choose Texas as their college football home according to multiple sources at the On3 Elite Series event this week and others familiar with their recruitment. All three wide receivers are consensus five star talents and could absolutely dominate college football if they played together.
Meet the Elite WR Trio
Dakorien Moore
Dakorien Moore has been a Top 50 recruit since 2025 class rankings were first posted on all of the major recruiting sites. He splashed onto the scene playing varsity for Texas 6A state championship runner-up Duncanville High School as a freshman, and then just kept getting better.
He's run a 10.6-second 100-meter dash and has reached a max speed of 22 miles per hour on the field according to Reel Analytics. Moore will most assuredly be a top ten recruit in the 2025 class.
Kaliq Lockett
Lockett isn't the same elite track athlete that Moore is, but he brings great burst, yards-after-catch ability, and extreme production this past season. Plus he boasts a 6'7" wingspan with incredible contested catch ability. Lockett is rangy, flexible, and has been a non-stop riser on recruiting ranking boards for over a year now.
Jaime Ffrench
Ffrench is another elite production-type player with over 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns scored last fall. He too runs track, albeit not as fast as Moore. Ffrench plays bigger than his slender frame would suggest thanks in part to the fact that he also plays basketball. He's physical, but also plays with great footwork and route running. He too, just like Moore, has been a consensus Top 50 recruit for almost two years now.
Strong relationship between the 3 WRs
Steve Wiltfong has put in predictions of Texas for all three wide receivers. He added Lockett and Ffrench just this week. Moore was already a Texas lean according to On3 Sports weeks ago. But will they actually do it? All three commit to the same school? Based on what Lockett and Moore had to say this week, there's a real shot it happens.
Josh Newberg (of On3) had the opportunity to sit down with the top wide receivers from around the country this week and learned that the relationship between Lockett, Moore, and even Ffrench is a strong one. Lockett and Moore have known each other for several years (as Lockett mentions in the post below).
"Me and him have talked about [potentially playing college football together] since was probably in the 8th grade."
Kaliq Lockett and Dakorien Moore have been well-known premier talents in the state of Texas since they were in middle school, so it's no surprise that they have been in contact for a very long time. They've talked about playing with each other for a while, but that possibility certainly increased when Moore decommitted from LSU here recently.
When asked about playing with Lockett and Ffrench, Moore also addressed the possibility of them playing together. They all have a similar top three when it comes to potential top schools: Texas, LSU, and Ohio State.
"Me, Kaliq, and Jaime have all talked about the same schools. Obviously Texas. We've been there numerous times. Ohio State. LSU. We all have that top three. We've talked about the benefits, advantages, and disadvantages…and ultimately we're going to see where it ends up.
Several sources, high volume of unofficial visits, their pre-existing relationships with each other, and the high-flying offense that just sent two wide receivers to rounds one and two of the NFL Draft this spring point towards a strong possibility that this elite trio plays together.
Moore just decided against LSU (for now). Latest intel from multiple sources points towards Lockett and Ffrench heading to Texas. Moore is being heavily recruited by the Buckeyes and their five star recruit Tavien St. Clair still, but "Texas is still the team to beat" with him according to multiple sources this week. There aren't many obstacles stopping this elite trio from joining forces at Texas. And if they do, Steve Sarkisian's offense with Arch Manning at the helm in 2025 might be unstoppable.
