The Jacksonville Jaguars addressed crucial needs this offseason, demonstrating a strategic approach. They entered free agency with a clear goal, resulting in a strengthened wide receiver room and a fortified defensive line room, a significant improvement from the previous season.

Now, there is one thing they didn't check off of the list that they maybe should have—signing Trevor Lawrence for his big-time contract extension. Everyone has been waiting for it to happen because we all know it will, but the numbers and timing of the contract are what we don't know.

On Monday, the Jaguars started OTAs, and Doug Pederson started his day with a press conference. He was asked about navigating the offseason with that on his mind.

"It's part of the business, but I think the sooner you get it done, it's behind everyone, and now we are focused on football," Doug Pederson said. "I know they continue to talk and are working tirelessly, and I just got to coach Trevor and coach football, and hopefully it gets done, and it will."

Recently, guys like Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts have had contract extensions done. So, it makes sense that Trevor Lawrence could be antsy while waiting for his. I'm not saying he is better than those guys, but he is deserving of a large chunk of change, and he will get it.

To me, he should be getting it very soon, as Pederson did throw-in at the end the "he will" phrase, which tells me he thinks the two sides are closer now than they were the last time he spoke about it. So, who knows, maybe the notification pops up as soon as you're done reading this.
