America’s Team finds a way to be involved often and another has come about amidst some big college basketball news.
Last night, news broke that John Calipari was in talks to become the new head coach for Arkansas and that he would be leaving Kentucky after 15 seasons.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones played a part in Arkansas being a landing spot for Calipari and the size of his bank account has everything to do with it.
According to ESPN, Calipari will be helped out on the NIL front by power boosters like Jerry Jones. As we all know, recruiting elite talent in college football and basketball today takes some big checks on the Name, Image, and Likeness front where athletes profit.
The Walton family that owns the Denver Broncos are also donors for Arkansas. Jones played college football for the Razorbacks and has long given back to the school. Jones, who is worth $13.9 million according to Forbes, probably doesn’t mind a bit.
On the free agency front, the Dallas Cowboys haven’t been very active at all and fans may not want to see the cash being spent elsewhere. That could soon be the case as Calipari has consistently recruited classes filled with five-star talent.
