Former Tennessee Vols RHP Blade Tidwell made his season debut for Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday evening.
Tidwell, a second round selection by the New York Mets in the 2022 MLB Draft, was promoted to Double-A Binghamton to end the 2023 season.
The former Vol was stellar in his season debut, allowing just one unearned run over 5.2 innings.
Tidwell gave up three hits while striking out five. Unfortunately for the Tennessee native, he was hit with the loss due to the one unearned run.
Tidwell's fastball showed plenty of life on Tuesday evening, generating several swings and misses.
Tidwell will turn 23 later this summer. If he can get off to a quick start this season, he could quickly advanced through the Mets' system and have a legitimate chance to reach the big leagues by the end of the 2024 season.
