Until Brandon Aiyuk is signed to a contract extension, speculation will continue to swirl about the future of the San Francisco 49ers' All-Pro receiver.
Aiyuk received a recruiting pitch on Wednesday from a familiar face.
New England Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, a former 49er who was a teammate of Aiyuk during the latter's rookie season in 2020, is keen to be reunited with Aiyuk this offseason.
Bourne implored the Niners star to "come to NE" in a post on his Instagram story on Tuesday.
Despite Bourne's pleas, Aiyuk is very unlikely to become a Patriot.
The 49ers have been adamant they intend to sign Aiyuk to a long-term deal and have no interest in trading him.
As a 25-year-old coming off successive 1,000-yard seasons, the starting point for any team hoping to move them off that stance will be a first-round pick.
The Patriots will almost certainly not be willing to part with the third overall pick to make such a deal happen, so New England can be confidently crossed off the list of potential destinations if the Niners change course and elect to deal their leading receiver.
