Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs offered a hilarious take on one potential uniform combination for UT during a recent appearance on The Players Lounge Tennessee. He also pointed out a uniform combination that he'd love to see the Vols wear.

Dobbs interviewed Vols newcomers Chris Brazzell, Holden Staes, and Jermod McCoy for TPL Tennessee and one of the questions that was asked was about which uniform combinations the newcomers prefer.

McCoy, who transferred from Oregon State earlier this offseason, told Dobbs that he'd like to wear an all-black uniform with an orange helmet, which drew an amusing response from the former Tennessee quarterback.

"Orange helmet with all black? I don't know, fans might burn the city down," said a semi-joking Dobbs.

"They said the orange helmets are bad luck," added Dobbs, to which Staes replied "we're going to change that".

Staes mentioned that he likes the all orange look with a white helmet, which is the closest that any of the newcomers came to naming a traditional look.

Dobbs, however, despite his response to McCoy's preferred uniform combination, offered up probably the worst uniform concept idea during the interview.

"I think smokey grey helmet, smokey grey jersey, white pants, all white bottom," said Dobbs.

Yikes. Dobbs is a legend in Knoxville, but that's a uniform combination that might cause an actual riot. No way the traditionalists are going that far down the uniform rabbit hole.

Uniforms are always a hot topic. And it's clear after listening to a few of Tennessee's newcomers that switching up the look is something that players enjoy, even though it seems like most fans are staunchly in favor of the the traditional orange and white look.

Update:

Tennessee's quarterbacks wore a version of the uniform that Dobbs mentioned during the Vols' 2023 spring game (minus the smokey grey helmet).

I'm not sure a smokey grey helmet would improve that look any.
